A Muslim family eating Christmas eve dinner at an Olive Garden in Augusta, Georgia received a totally unexpected surprise when the time came for them to ask for the bill.
Eslam Mohamed was having dinner with his family as well as a few other people. He said that it was obvious that the families were Arab Muslims because they were speaking Arabic and the women were wearing hijabs.
When they were finished with their meal, the restaurant goers asked for the bill. The waitress came to their table and handed them something very unexpected — a receipt with the words, “Paid Merry Christmas Beautiful Family” written across it.
Mohamed wrote on his Facebook page, “Someone paid for us and wrote those wonderful words on the receipt. I can’t express how this act touched our hearts. Among all the bad things happening to Muslims and the hate speech that the presidential candidate had made lately, there is still light in the dark, there is still hope within the frustration.”
The random act of kindness truly impacted Mohamed and his family. He wished the anonymous payer of the bill a Merry Christmas and thanked him for his beautiful heart.
Mohamed’s Facebook post was shared over 19,000 times. This generous gesture undoubtedly made this family’s holiday season.
